SEREMBAN, June 24 — A female pilot has filed a police report alleging she was cheated in a Haj travel package deal, resulting in a loss of RM194,970.

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the woman, in her 30s and employed by a local airline, lodged the report at the Nilai police station at 11.23am today. She claimed to have dealt with an individual from an Umrah travel agency who offered her the Haj package on January 14.

“The victim made multiple bank transfers amounting to RM194,970 to the agency’s account as full payment for the package,” he said in a statement.

He added that the woman discovered she had been scammed on March 15 when she learned the agency had ceased operations and she would not be able to perform the pilgrimage as planned.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, and efforts are underway to track down the suspect. — Bernama
