KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — Police have detained nine men in connection with a mob attack on a Perodua Myvi driver near the Batu 13 Toll Plaza in Puchong early Sunday.

Serdang district police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the suspects, aged 17 to 21, were picked up during a series of raids in Puchong and Shah Alam this morning. He added that three motorcycles believed to have been used in the incident were also seized, according to Berita Harian.

The case drew widespread attention after a 29-second video went viral, showing dozens of motorcyclists encircling the car, with one rider seen punching and kicking the driver’s side.

The victim, a 52-year-old security guard, later lodged a police report stating that he was surrounded by the group near the toll plaza at around 4am.

Police believe the mob involved about 20 motorcyclists, and efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

The nine arrested men were taken to the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court this morning for a remand application.

The case is being probed under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and causing damage, and Section 279 for reckless driving.
