KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — National women’s doubles stars Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah cruised into the quarter-finals of the 2025 Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships.

The second seeds and defending champions needed just 38 minutes at the Hong Kong Coliseum to overcome Indonesia’s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma-Meilyssa Trias Puspitasari 21-18, 21-17.

They will next face either fellow Malaysians Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing or Taiwan’s Hsu Ya Ching-Sung Yu-Hsuan.

In men’s doubles, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun suffered an early exit after going down 17-21, 21-11, 15-21 to Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-Huei-Yang Po-Hsuan. Earlier, Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King progressed with a 21-17, 21-19 win over compatriots Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri, booking a quarter-final clash with India’s top pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty.

Meanwhile, in men’s singles, Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin fell to sixth seed Christo Popov of France 17-21, 19-21. — Bernama
