BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
GEORGE TOWN, March 26 — The Penang Health Department (JKNPP) has inspected a well-known eatery along Lorong Pitt after a customer alleged finding a cockroach leg in a dish.
State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen said the premises were generally in acceptable condition, though several areas required improvement.
“Notices for corrective actions have been issued to ensure full compliance with the Food Act 1983 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
“The inspection was carried out by the Food Safety and Quality Unit of the North-East District Health Office on March 16,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the operator was also given guidance on maintaining proper hygiene standards, safe food handling practices, and adherence to existing regulations.
Gooi stressed that JKNPP remains committed to upholding high food safety standards in Penang, with ongoing monitoring and enforcement to protect public health.
Earlier, Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan took to Facebook to voice his dissatisfaction over the absence of stricter enforcement measures, such as fines or closure orders, after his staff lodged a complaint two weeks ago regarding the alleged incident. — Bernama
