GEORGE TOWN, March 3 — A medical officer from a local hospital, who was detained on Wednesday (Feb 26) to assist in an investigation into alleged misconduct at his workplace, has been released on police bail today.

Timur Laut District Deputy Police Chief, Supt Lee Swee Sake, stated that the 43-year-old doctor was granted bail following the expiration of his remand order.

"Police are finalizing the investigation paper for this case. Once completed, it will be referred to Bukit Aman and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

"The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955," he told Bernama when contacted today.

Earlier, the media reported that police detained the medical officer at approximately 9:30 pm on Wednesday after the hospital lodged a report regarding the incident. — Bernama
