BALIK PULAU, April 18 — A double-storey terrace house along Jalan Kelicap was exposed as a ketum juice processing facility following a police raid yesterday afternoon.

Barat Daya Police Chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the raid, conducted at 2.30pm, resulted in the arrest of two men, aged 40 and 42, who were caught in the act of boiling ketum juice inside the house.

Further inspection uncovered two containers containing 600 packets of ketum juice and 15 bundles of ketum leaves weighing 75 kilograms, worth around RM3,400, along with a pot of ketum juice in the midst of processing.

“Initial investigations revealed the house had been rented for the past six months and used exclusively for ketum processing,” he said during a press conference at the scene today.

Both suspects were unemployed and believed to be fully involved in the production and distribution of ketum juice.

“We are continuing our investigation and believe there may be others acting as the masterminds behind these two men,” Sazalee added.

He noted that each packet of ketum juice was sold at RM5, allowing the operation to generate an estimated monthly income of RM6,000, mainly targeting customers in the Barat Daya district. — Bernama
