IPOH, March 13 — The Perak government has urged AirAsia to reconsider its decision to suspend the Ipoh-Singapore route starting April 25, as announced on the airline’s website.

State Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said the state government was not informed of the move and hopes it is only temporary. He emphasized that the route has received strong demand and its suspension could impact tourism, investment, and industry in Perak.

Loh also noted that the decision contradicts efforts to enhance air transport in Ipoh, where upgrades to Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) are currently underway to improve flight services.

AirAsia recently announced the suspension of 17 routes, including Ipoh-Singapore, which launched in 2018, as part of its strategy to review operations. — Bernama
