TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed the Works Ministry to take firmer action against contractors responsible for delays in infrastructure projects.
He said the ministry’s role extends beyond launching projects to ensuring their timely completion, stressing the importance of performance monitoring across the country.
“There are dozens, hundreds, perhaps even thousands of projects nationwide, and it is crucial that their performance is properly recorded. If problems arise, do not wait for me to intervene. Contractors who fail to deliver projects on time must be held accountable,” he said during the Works Ministry’s monthly assembly today.
For projects under the purview of state governments, including those in Sabah, Sarawak, Perlis and Kelantan, Anwar emphasised that work must proceed according to schedule while also fulfilling local requirements.
He added that the ministry’s secretary-general has been instructed to allow officers, including junior staff, to provide feedback not only on project implementation but also on potential improvements.
“By taking their input into account, we can gain a clearer understanding of on-the-ground realities. This approach ensures that we operate as a single, cohesive team,” he said.
