PARIS, June 7 — US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned yesterday that Europe was facing what he described as an “invasion” of dangerous ideologies arriving by sea, drawing a link between immigration and the legacy of the D-Day landings during remarks in Normandy.
IPOH, May 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today took time to engage with the local community, especially Chinese residents, during a visit to a restaurant in Chemor here.
The Tambun MP arrived at about 4pm and was warmly welcomed by residents. He also visited several nearby business premises, taking the opportunity to interact with locals.
Anwar spent about 45 minutes over afternoon tea, chatting with around 200 attendees and exchanging views on various issues.
During the informal gathering, he also signed a banner and plaque from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Poi Lam in recognition of the school’s wushu team’s recent achievement at an international competition in China.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and her deputy Wong Kah Woh were also present.
Meanwhile, Tambun MP special officer Terrence Ng Swee Teck said residents raised several current issues during the session, including targeted petrol subsidies and the global supply situation.
He added that the event was attended by village chiefs, NGO representatives, educators, and headmasters from nearby schools. — Bernama
