KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 — Police have arrested four Iranian nationals, including a woman, believed to be members of a ‘geng pukau’ (hypnosis gang) linked to robbery and theft cases involving losses of over RM30,000. The suspects, aged 18 to 35, were detained during a raid at a condominium along Jalan Ampang on Monday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, who are related, allegedly distracted victims by engaging them in conversation before stealing their cash and valuables. The gang is said to have targeted both locals and foreign tourists. Cash and jewellery believed to be linked to the crimes were seized during the operation.

Four police reports have been filed so far, with the most recent case reported on Jan 9. The suspects are currently remanded and are expected to be charged next week under Sections 379 and 395 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
