PARIS, June 7 — US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned yesterday that Europe was facing what he described as an “invasion” of dangerous ideologies arriving by sea, drawing a link between immigration and the legacy of the D-Day landings during remarks in Normandy.
NIBONG TEBAL, June 3 — Police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a 27-year-old victim with a machete during an armed robbery at a convenience store in Taman Bistari here on Sunday night.
South Seberang Perai deputy police chief DSP Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar said the incident occurred at about 9.29pm, leaving the victim with injuries to his head and both arms.
The suspect reportedly fled with cash, several cartons of cigarettes and a sling bag, resulting in losses estimated at RM500.
Mohd Norazmi said police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and are analysing the recordings, including efforts to identify the vehicle believed to have been used by the suspect, which is suspected to be bearing foreign registration plates.
He added that the victim initially received treatment at Sungai Bakap Hospital before being transferred to Sunway Penang Hospital, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition.
A forensic team has examined the crime scene to collect evidence, and investigations are being conducted under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
Mohd Norazmi stressed that police began investigations immediately after receiving the report and not as a result of a video of the incident that later went viral on social media.
He urged anyone with information related to the case to contact investigating officer Insp Noremifarahana Tuan Roslan at 04-5858222 or visit the nearest police station. — Bernama
