HONG KONG, Jan 21 — Hong Kong police are investigating a possible child abuse case after a man participated in the city’s annual marathon with a baby strapped to his chest.

Video of the runner, with his race bib attached to the baby’s pink outfit, went viral on social media.

“The case has been referred to the Child Abuse Investigation Unit,” Hong Kong police said, noting that a report was filed one day after Sunday’s event. No arrests have been made so far.

The South China Morning Post reported that authorities had contacted a man from Guangxi province in southwestern China for further questioning.

The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates (HKAAA) confirmed the man did not complete the race. Local media said he was asked to stop running and leave the course. — AFP
