KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — Police are investigating a viral video promoting a ‘basikal lajak’ (modified bicycle) race, reportedly set to take place in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, tomorrow.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said the 29-second clip, which surfaced on TikTok around 4.30pm yesterday, shows a group of teenagers riding their modified bicycles on the road along with details about the planned race.

“A police report was subsequently lodged,” he said in a statement today, adding that an investigation paper has been opened under Section 81 of the Road Transport Act 1987. The law prohibits any race, competition, or speed trial without approval from the Minister of Transport, state government, or relevant local authority.

He urged anyone with information about the event to contact the nearest police station or the Petaling Jaya Police Headquarters Operations Room at 03-7966 2222. — Bernama
