MOSCOW, March 21 — On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed his Persian New Year greetings to Iran’s leadership and citizens, pledging Moscow’s solidarity as the nation navigates the ongoing Middle East conflict.

According to a Kremlin statement, Nowruz messages were delivered to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Putin wished the Iranian people resilience during these "severe trials," affirming that Moscow remains a steadfast friend and dependable partner to Tehran throughout this crisis. As a long-standing ally, Russia has denounced the U.S.-Israeli strikes that launched the war on February 28 and recently condemned the assassination of Iranian security chief Ali Larijani in an Israeli air strike.

While Russia has officially limited its wartime assistance to humanitarian aid, U.S. media reports suggest Moscow is providing military intelligence to support Iran’s drone and missile operations.

In response to attacks on its soil, Iran has targeted U.S. and Israeli bases across the Gulf, though the Kremlin declined to comment earlier this month on reports regarding intelligence sharing. — AFP

In a Nowruz message on Saturday, President Vladimir Putin extended his holiday greetings to Iran’s leadership and citizens, pledging Russia’s continued backing amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
