KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has announced a RM2 million allocation to the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to restore public infrastructure damaged by the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

In a statement today, KPKT said that the National Solid Waste Management Department (JPSPN) and the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) will fully support the Selangor government in carrying out clean-up operations in the affected areas this weekend.

“The Cabinet meeting today placed serious emphasis on the Putra Heights fire incident. Various forms of aid have already been extended to victims, including cash assistance, temporary housing rental support, and free car rentals.

“KPKT’s priority is the repair and reconstruction of homes damaged by the blaze,” the ministry added.

A special task force was formed last week, involving all agencies under the ministry, especially implementing bodies like Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) and PR1MA.

The task force has completed an action plan for the repair and rebuilding of affected homes, following a prior announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“The plan was presented to the Prime Minister today,” the statement said. — Bernama
