NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
PUTRAJAYA, April 30 — The government will fully discontinue the egg subsidy starting August 1.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) said that egg price controls will be lifted, with the subsidy reduced from RM0.10 to RM0.05 per egg beginning tomorrow, ahead of its complete removal in August.
The decision follows the industry’s commitment to maintaining sufficient and stable egg production, supported by stabilised production costs.
“This was demonstrated during the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, where egg supply remained stable and prices were competitive,” the ministry noted.
To ease the transition, the government said the industry has agreed to introduce special-grade eggs at affordable prices.
Consumers will also benefit from more competitive prices through Agro Madani and Rahmah Sale programmes nationwide, including at Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) and Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) outlets.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will intensify enforcement efforts under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (Akhap 2011) to prevent price manipulation and profiteering.
For any concerns or inquiries regarding egg supply, the public can contact KPKM via email at pro@kpkm.gov.my or call the ministry’s Putrajaya headquarters hotline at 03-8000 8000. — Bernama
