Sancho joined Chelsea on loan in August in a deal that reportedly included an obligation to buy the winger for £25 million.

However, after an encouraging start at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old’s form has declined, with reports revealing that Chelsea could opt out of the deal by paying a cancellation fee.

With just two goals in all competitions and none since December, Sancho has struggled to secure a regular spot in Enzo Maresca’s squad as they push for Champions League qualification.

Despite his dip in form, Chelsea are still expected to proceed with the permanent transfer, hoping he can rediscover the level of performance that helped Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final during his loan spell last season.

Maresca has consistently expressed satisfaction with Sancho’s contributions, noting his surprise at the winger’s progress following his contentious exit from Old Trafford.

Sancho was sidelined at Manchester United after a public dispute with former manager Erik ten Hag last season and did not play again before being loaned to Dortmund.

Chelsea were linked with United winger Alejandro Garnacho in January and may still look to strengthen in that position during the summer transfer window, even if they finalize Sancho’s signing. — AFP
