KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — An armed forces retiree was killed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a BMW along Jalan Kampung Pandan here on Monday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the 45-year-old victim was riding a Yamaha 135LC in the left lane when he collided with the right side of a BMW that had exited a junction from the left side of the road.

He said the impact caused the rider to suffer severe head and body injuries. The victim was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment but died while receiving care in the emergency ward. The BMW driver, 44, and passengers in the vehicle were not injured.

He added that CCTV footage from a nearby premises showed the driver had arrived at the location to pick up a friend before heading towards Damansara.

The driver has since been arrested to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

Police have urged witnesses with information to contact the Tun H S Lee Traffic Police Station or the nearest police station to assist in the investigation. — Bernama
