SERIAN, April 13 — A workshop owner and his son were injured in a brutal machete attack by five masked assailants at their premises in Siburan yesterday morning.

Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the authorities received a distress call about the incident at 9.55am.

“Two local men, aged 30 and 54, were attacked by five suspects wielding machetes. Both sustained injuries to their hands and legs,” he said in a statement.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons.

Mohd Irwan added that the Padawan District Crime Investigation Department (CID), along with the Sarawak Contingent Police, are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Preliminary investigations, including CCTV footage review, showed that the attackers arrived at the scene at 9.39am in two sedans. Clad in black raincoats and balaclavas, they launched a swift and violent assault on the victims.

The injured father and son were first rushed to Serian Hospital by family members and later transferred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), where they are currently being treated in the Red Zone of the Emergency Unit. — The Borneo Post
