WASHINGTON, Nov 19 — Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said Saudi Arabia seeks to normalise relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords but wants a “clear path” to Palestinian statehood first.

Speaking with US President Donald Trump, the prince emphasised the kingdom’s goal of peaceful coexistence for Israelis and Palestinians. Unlike the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco—which normalised ties with Israel in 2020—Saudi Arabia has consistently made Palestinian statehood a condition for any agreement.

He acknowledged the kingdom’s unique influence in the Arab and Islamic world, noting its significance as guardian of Islam’s two holiest sites. — AFP
