WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 – With schools reopening today in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, parents took advantage of the weekend to make final preparations for their children's school needs, including utilizing the Early Schooling Aid (BAP).
In Terengganu, Norhafizah Rejab, 37, used the RM150 BAP to buy an extra set of uniforms for her daughter entering Standard Three, saying the aid was helpful for parents. Her daughter, newly appointed as a library prefect, needed a completely new uniform.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Hamzah Alias, a senior supervisor at a clothing store involved in the Rahmah MADANI Sales programme (PJRM), noted an increase in customers when the Back to School initiative was held on Jan 31 and Feb 1.
In Kedah, trader Md Irwan Effendy Muhammad Ariffin, 38, delayed school shopping due to work but was relieved to still find uniform sizes available. He spent RM300 on school essentials for his eight-year-old son, reusing older items where possible.
Mother of five, Nur Atikah Abdul Majid, 38, prepared early, only taking her children for haircuts on the last day. She allocated RM100 per child, reusing items in good condition.
In Kelantan, many parents had already completed their shopping, leaving school uniform shops in Kota Bharu relatively quiet. Mazira Ismail, 42, bought supplies early to avoid last-minute crowds and ensure her children had uniforms for registration day.
As the new school term begins, parents across these states continue balancing budgets and preparations for their children's education. — Bernama
