KAJANG, March 26 — Selangor police will deploy 717 personnel, including 71 officers, to manage traffic flow during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said 49 traffic police cars and 87 motorcycle patrol units will be stationed at 18 locations expected to experience heavy congestion during the festive season.

These locations include the KL-Karak Expressway, Gombak Toll Plaza, Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, Jalan Kuala Selangor-Rawang, and the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza.

“We estimate that 1.6 million vehicles will be moving in and out of the state,” he told reporters after launching the Hari Raya Aidilfitri road safety campaign at the Kajang Selatan Toll Plaza on the Kajang-Seremban Highway yesterday.

Also in attendance was Selangor Road Transport Department director Azrin Borhan.

In a separate matter, Hussein said police are close to concluding their investigation into the armed robbery of a gold shop in Kota Damansara on Saturday (March 22).

He said statements have been recorded from 12 individuals, including witnesses and the suspect, who is an auxiliary policeman employed by a utility company.

Earlier, police arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of escaping with seven trays of jewellery, with losses estimated at RM2 million. — Bernama
