SHAH ALAM, April 9 (MYT) — Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that all temporary relief centres (PPS) in Putra Heights will be closed by the end of this week, with the process beginning tonight.

“The closure of PPS will begin this week, starting with Dewan Camelia, which is scheduled to shut down at exactly 10 PM tonight,” he said during a press conference held at the Selangor State Secretariat building.

He added that the second shelter is expected to close either later this week or by early next week. The PPS at Masjid Putra Heights is also anticipated to cease operations by the weekend, as evacuees have begun returning to their homes.

In related developments, Amirudin also announced that the Selangor Land and Mines Office will dispatch a mobile van from Monday onwards to assist verified homeowners by printing new land grants free of charge.

As of last night, 469 families have been officially confirmed as victims of last Tuesday’s gas pipeline explosion, according to data from the Petaling District Office and the Social Welfare Department.

“This figure is different from the 613 families registered at the PPS, as it includes individuals from areas not directly impacted by the incident,” Amirudin explained.

The Petaling District Office is expected to complete the verification process by Friday to ensure that aid is distributed only to genuine victims of the explosion.

The gas pipeline blast that struck Putra Heights on April 4 caused widespread disruption, displacing hundreds of residents and damaging nearby properties.Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari addresses the media during a press conference at the Selangor State Secretariat building in Shah Alam on April 9, 2025. — Photo by Yusof Mat Isa
