TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
NEWCASTLE, Jan 14 — Antoine Semenyo says he has found the “perfect” environment to flourish after scoring in each of his first two games for Manchester City.
The Ghana international has made an immediate impact since his £65 million (RM354 million) move from Bournemouth last week, opening the scoring in City’s 2-0 first-leg win over Newcastle in the League Cup semi-final yesterday. He had also scored in Saturday’s 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter, while a second goal at St. James’ Park was controversially ruled out after a lengthy VAR review.
“The whole environment here is perfect. Everyone is confident and focused on achieving the best. They’ve welcomed me and boosted my confidence,” said Semenyo, who has 12 goals in all competitions this season.
“It’s a lot to take in, but I’m enjoying it and picking things up quickly. I’m carrying the confidence I had at Bournemouth and playing with a smile. I’m enjoying every moment.”
Rayan Cherki later scored for Newcastle deep into nine minutes of added time following the VAR review. Despite their strong lead, City remained frustrated by the disallowed goal, with Pep Guardiola recalling two penalties not given in their earlier 2-1 Premier League defeat at Newcastle.
“It should have been 3-0, but we’re used to this,” said City captain Bernardo Silva. “It’s frustrating because similar decisions went against us last time we were here.” — AFP
