PARIS, June 7 — US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned yesterday that Europe was facing what he described as an “invasion” of dangerous ideologies arriving by sea, drawing a link between immigration and the legacy of the D-Day landings during remarks in Normandy.
KOTA KINABALU, May 17 — Malaysian students may now apply for the Chinese Government’s fully funded “Silk Road” Scholarship Programme for the 2026 intake, offered by Kibing Group in collaboration with Changsha University of Science and Technology and supported by Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
The programme will fully sponsor five undergraduate students and between five to 10 master’s students in fields related to new energy and engineering.
It aims to nurture talent in sectors such as green energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, finance, disaster risk reduction and teacher education. Kibing Group will also provide internship and employment opportunities upon graduation.
The undergraduate course in New Energy Science and Engineering will be conducted in Mandarin, while the master’s programme in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics will be offered in either Mandarin or English.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance and medical insurance.
Applicants must meet language requirements, with undergraduates requiring HSK Level 3 and master’s students needing HSK Level 4 along with a minimum IELTS score of 5.5. Candidates without the qualifications may undergo Mandarin training after enrolment.
Applications are open from May 7 to 22, with results to be announced on May 31. Interested applicants must pre-register with Kibing Group and submit their documents via the CSUST international application platform. — Daily Express
