LONDON, Oct 19 — Jannik Sinner powered past world number one Carlos Alcaraz to capture the Six Kings Slam title in Saudi Arabia, PA Media/dpa reported.

The world number two was in dominant form, sweeping aside the Wimbledon champion 6-2, 6-4 in Riyadh.

Sinner seized control early, breaking Alcaraz in the opening game and holding serve to establish a quick 2-0 lead. Although the Spaniard managed to get on the board, Sinner continued his momentum, breaking again in the fifth game before closing out the first set 6-2 in commanding fashion.

Alcaraz started the second set strongly, holding serve with ease and briefly matching Sinner’s intensity. However, after saving four break points at 2-2, the world number one faltered in his next service game, allowing Sinner to break for a 4-3 lead.

From there, the Italian remained composed, holding serve to move within one game of victory and sealing the match 6-4 with a powerful finish.

Earlier, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic retired from his third-place play-off against American Taylor Fritz after losing a gruelling first set in a tie-break. The 38-year-old Serbian conceded the match following the 75-minute opener, marking Fritz’s first win in 12 meetings against him. — Bernama-PA Media/dpa
