Spain Climb Back to Top of FIFA Rankings as Germany Slip Out of Top 10

LONDON, Sept 19 — Euro 2024 champions Spain have returned to the top of the FIFA rankings for the first time in 11 years, while Germany have slipped out of the top 10, world football’s governing body announced.

LONDON, Sept 19 — Euro 2024 champions Spain have returned to the top of the FIFA rankings for the first time in 11 years, while Germany have slipped out of the top 10, world football’s governing body announced.

France climbed to second in the updated rankings released Thursday, with reigning World Cup holders Argentina dropping to third after a 1-0 defeat to Ecuador in the 2026 qualifiers. Nations League winners Portugal rose one place to fifth.

Germany fell out of the top 10 for the first time in nearly a year following their loss to Slovakia earlier this month. Slovakia made the biggest leap, jumping 10 places to 42nd.
