WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
KUANTAN, Feb 15 — A 53-year-old suspect was arrested early this morning in Kuala Terengganu in connection with the murder of Norshamira Zainal, a food vendor whose body was found near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge on February 13.
Kuantan District Police Chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the unemployed suspect was detained at 5.30 am in Wakaf Tembesu Gong Badak by a police team. Authorities also seized a ring, cash, clothing, and documents to aid the investigation.
A remand application will be filed at the Kuantan Magistrate’s Court today, with the suspect being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“With this arrest, the police have successfully solved the case,” ACP Wan Mohd Zahari said.
Meanwhile, Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman thanked Terengganu police for their assistance in tracking down the suspect. He previously confirmed that injury marks were found on the victim’s body, and her jewellery was missing, indicating foul play.
The case also drew the attention of Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who urged authorities to swiftly apprehend and prosecute the suspect.
Yesterday, Al-Sultan Abdullah, alongside Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, visited the victim’s family at the Forensic Medical Department of Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) to offer condolences. — Bernama
