KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — Malaysia’s journey in the Swiss Open 2025 came to an end on Friday as their final hope, professional mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie, exited in the quarter-finals.

The top-seeded duo fell short of expectations, suffering a straight-set defeat to Thailand’s eighth-seeded Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in the Super 300 tournament at St. Jakobshalle, Basel.

Ranked world No. 13, Dechapol and Supissara needed just 34 minutes to overcome Soon Huat and Shevon with a 21-18, 21-10 victory.

With this win, the Thai pair now hold a 3-2 advantage in their head-to-head record against the Malaysian husband-and-wife duo, dating back to their first clash at the Arctic Open 2024 in Finland.

Dechapol and Supissara will compete for a spot in the final against Feng Yan Zhe and Wei Ya Xin later today, after the Chinese fifth seeds defeated France’s Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue 21-18, 21-16.

The Swiss Open 2025 features a total prize pool of US$250,000 (approximately RM1.11 million). — Bernama
