WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — Two Taiwanese nationals pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today to charges of firearms trafficking and possessing 900 rounds of ammunition last month.
Cheng Ming Hung, 26, and Hsueh Chun Ta, 33, were accused of illegally trafficking 14 pistols and a submachine gun at a house in Desa ParkCity, Sentul, on January 16. The charge, under Section 7(2) of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, carries a prison sentence of 30 to 40 years and six strokes of the cane if convicted.
They also faced separate charges under the Arms Act 1960 for possessing an imitation firearm and empty magazines without a valid reason, as well as possessing 900 rounds of ammunition without a permit. The offences could result in additional jail terms and fines.
Judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin denied bail, stating that the charges were non-bailable, and scheduled the case for mention on March 12. The accused were unrepresented, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Nidzuwan Abd Latip led the prosecution. — Bernama
