KUALA BERANG, Dec 26 — A 56-year-old teacher lost RM144,152 after being scammed by a man posing as an NSRC officer.

Hulu Terengganu police chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the victim was contacted on Nov 17 by a suspect who falsely accused her of circulating fake government aid links and laundering money. He then instructed her to hand over her ATM card and PIN.

On Dec 4, the suspect told her to place the card behind a school signboard. Fearing legal action, she complied. She later found RM144,152 missing, with five unauthorised withdrawals made between Dec 4 and Dec 8.

A police report has been lodged and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
