ALOR SETAR, Sept 7 — A teenage boy is missing and feared drowned after a harvesting machine carrying him and three friends overturned in a river at Kampung Sanglang, near Jitra, yesterday.

ALOR SETAR, Sept 7 — A teenage boy is missing and feared drowned after a harvesting machine carrying him and three friends overturned in a river at Kampung Sanglang, near Jitra, yesterday.

According to a statement from the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, two of the victims managed to escape on their own, while another was rescued by the Jitra Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).

“JBPM received an emergency call around 3.40pm reporting that a machine had fallen into the river with four individuals involved, one of whom is feared drowned. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and updates will be provided periodically,” the statement said.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Radzi Abdul Rahim confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that one victim remains missing and the identities of those involved have yet to be confirmed. — Bernama
