Thailand enforces immediate curfew in Narathiwat following a series of explosions.

BANGKOK, Jan 11 — Thailand has imposed an immediate curfew in its southern province of Narathiwat following a series of violent incidents, including multiple explosions, the military said on Sunday.

In a statement posted on the Narathiwat Task Force’s social media account, the Thai military said several security measures are being implemented to maintain public order. These include stricter controls at border checkpoints between Thailand and Malaysia, as well as a curfew prohibiting residents from leaving their homes between 9pm and 5am.

Earlier, the military confirmed that several petrol stations in Thailand’s southern border provinces were targeted in arson attacks and explosions late Saturday night, injuring a police officer. Five petrol stations in Narathiwat were among those affected.

Thai media reported that attackers set fire to convenience stores at the stations and detonated homemade explosive devices at fuel pumps, causing major fires at the sites. — Bernama-Xinhua
