KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — Public relations agency ShekhinahPR, in collaboration with football marketing and management consultancy ProEvents, has donated football gear used by Manchester United during their recent match against the Asean All-Stars at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lemoi.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — The proposed Urban Renewal Act (URA), expected to be tabled later this year, could enable the "en bloc" sale of strata developments even without full owner agreement.
Currently, en bloc sales require 100% consent under the Strata Titles Act 1985. The URA proposes lowering this threshold: 80% consent for buildings under 30 years old, two-thirds for older buildings, and 50% for abandoned or unsafe properties.
Similar laws exist in Hong Kong and Singapore, aiming to rejuvenate ageing urban areas. Supporters argue the URA will help redevelop neglected buildings, unlocking RM332.5 billion in potential projects. However, critics warn it may lead to gentrification and displacement of lower-income homeowners.
Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming assures safeguards will be in place, including phased redevelopment to prevent displacement.
