NEW YORK, March 10 — Three brothers were found guilty of sex trafficking yesterday after a trial revealed they exploited their influence in the luxury real estate industry to target and assault women over several years.

Oren and Tal Alexander founded the real estate firm Official, which operated offices in Miami and New York, while Oren’s twin brother, Alon Alexander, worked at the family’s private security company.

Prosecutors said the brothers used “deception, fraud and coercion,” including promises of luxury travel and accommodation, to lure women. They were accused of drugging victims and committing sexual assaults against dozens of women.

Twins Alon and Oren, both 38, and their brother Tal, 39, now face potential life sentences when they are sentenced on August 6, according to The New York Times.

Authorities said the brothers leveraged their wealth and prominent standing in the real estate sector to create opportunities that allowed the crimes to take place.

Prosecutors stated that the offences occurred over more than a decade, from at least 2010 until 2021.

In 2022, Tal and Oren were featured in a New York Times profile highlighting their success as high-end real estate brokers, including the sale of a 24,000-square-foot Manhattan penthouse valued at US$234 million.

Tal Alexander was known for promoting a “no days off” lifestyle, frequently showcasing luxury homes to affluent clients.

According to prosecutors, the brothers allegedly invited women to social gatherings and parties, where they would provide drugs such as cocaine, magic mushrooms and GHB before carrying out the assaults.

Investigators said the group used social media, dating applications, in-person interactions and party promoters to recruit women to attend these events. — AFP
