Three FRU personnel in critical condition following Teluk Intan crash that claimed nine lives

IPOH, May 15 — Three members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) involved in Tuesday’s fatal road crash in Teluk Intan remain unconscious and in critical condition.

IPOH, May 15 — Three members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) involved in Tuesday’s fatal road crash in Teluk Intan remain unconscious and in critical condition.

Hilir Perak police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the three — Corporal Haslizal Mohd Ali, 44; Sergeant Mazlan Mat, 50; and Corporal Mohd Izwan Ishak, 39 — are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Teluk Intan Hospital.

“As part of our welfare outreach, we visited the injured victims today,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that four other FRU members injured in the incident have regained consciousness and are also receiving treatment at the same hospital. They are Corporal Mohammad Zulnaidi Muhammad Zullkifli, 34; Lance Corporal Muhammad Aniq Taufiq Rozi, 26; Corporal Mohd Harrisul Ikhsan Mohd Mahabudin; and Sergeant Mohd Parih Ali, 44.

The accident occurred at 8.50am on Tuesday when a truck carrying personnel from FRU Unit 5 based in Sungai Senam collided with a lorry transporting gravel. Eight FRU members were pronounced dead at the scene, while another died later at Teluk Intan Hospital. — Bernama
