WASHINGTON, Sept 27 — US President Donald Trump’s granddaughter has launched a clothing label under her own name, debuting it with promotional photos taken at the White House that feature her in a US$130 (RM549) sweatshirt.

Don Jr.’s daughter was seen standing next to the 79-year-old Republican yesterday, wearing one of her brand’s pullovers, as he fielded questions from reporters outside the White House.

“This is Kai, by the way,” Trump told the press corps, introducing his 18-year-old granddaughter, who had delivered a short speech at last year’s Republican National Convention.

Both avid golfers, the two later boarded a helicopter bound for the Ryder Cup tournament.

The eldest of Trump’s grandchildren, who is set to join the University of Miami golf team next year, announced the launch of her brand on social media Thursday.

Her website offers sweatshirts priced at US$130, described as plain crew necks featuring her initials on the chest and her signature stitched on the cuff, with promotional shots of her posing around the White House grounds.

Kai’s parents are divorced, while her mother is reportedly in a relationship with golf legend Tiger Woods.

Unlike his predecessors, Trump has become known for marketing a wide range of self-branded merchandise. He has frequently been accused of leveraging his position to advance the financial interests of the Trump family, notably in real estate and cryptocurrency ventures. — Reuters
