BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KOTA BHARU, Jan 14 — Kelantan police arrested two brothers and seized homemade firearms believed to have been used for illegal moneylending debt collection during a raid at a house near Kampung Seneng, Jelawat, Bachok, yesterday.
State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects, aged 34 and 37, were arrested at about 5pm following intelligence-led operations. Police seized homemade weapons, imitation pistols, ammunition components, a motorcycle and mobile phones. Investigations found the pair worked as debt collectors for illegal loan shark syndicates, using weapons to threaten debtors in the Bachok area. Both tested positive for methamphetamine and have prior criminal records. They were remanded for four days under the Arms Act 1960 and Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Separately, police are tracking a woman believed to be the mastermind behind a RM1.82 million cannabis flower syndicate, suspected to be in Thailand, following recent arrests in Kuala Krai. — Bernama
