KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a wanted suspect linked to organised crime in a special operation known as Op Lima.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the suspect, a member of the Geng TR organised crime group, was detained with the cooperation of Indian and Thai authorities while on a flight from Chennai, India to Bangkok, Thailand, before being repatriated to Malaysia.
He said the 46-year-old was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Kuala Selangor Magistrate’s Court on April 17, and had also been subject to an Interpol Red Notice issued on May 7.
“Geng TR has been actively involved in violent crime and drug-related activities in Selangor since 2021. Arrests have been made in connection with membership in an organised crime group,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 130V of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of not less than five years and up to 20 years.
Kumar added that the suspect has a serious criminal history, including murder, armed gang robbery, and causing injury with a weapon.
The suspect is expected to be charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today at 10am.
He also expressed PDRM’s appreciation to the Thai and Indian authorities for their cooperation, reaffirming the police force’s commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring national safety and public well-being. — Bernama
