NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
CHUKAI, April 22 (Bernama) — Police have arrested a woman suspected of scolding and assaulting her young daughter at a laundromat here last Wednesday.
Kemaman police chief Supt Mohd Razi Rosli said the 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody at her residence at 7.27pm yesterday.
The arrest followed the circulation of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording on social media, which showed a woman, believed to be the child’s mother, scolding and physically assaulting a girl at a laundromat.
“The suspect has been remanded until today (April 22) under Section 323/18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994,” he said in a statement last night.
According to Mohd Razi, initial investigations revealed that the woman’s actions were motivated by concern for her daughter’s safety, as the child had been running near the front of the shop and was in danger of being hit by a passing vehicle.
A preliminary medical report showed the child suffered minor injuries to the middle of her forehead and is now under the care of her father.
Police are calling for any witnesses to the incident to come forward or contact the Kemaman District Police Headquarters (IPD) operations room at 09-859 2222 to assist with the investigation. — Bernama
